"They keep it down Berta, but is embodied in each of us"


Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Before a ceremonial altar that summons the Berta Cáceres spirit, the social and popular movements in Latin America and the world concluded the second day of the International Meeting of Peoples "Berta Cáceres Vive".
After long hours of discussion, in which made concrete internationally actions against models of territorial dispossession, representatives of more than 150 national and international organizations took time to express their appreciation for the work of defense that characterized Berta Cáceres.
"Women are at high risk, not only for the sexist and patriarchal violence but also by political violence. "They keep it down Berta, but is embodied in each of us" reminded Auxiliadora Romero from the Communal Movement of Matagalpa, Nicaragua.
Aware that the murder of Berta Caceres was for her struggle and the struggle of COPINH, linked to the criminal extractive, neocolonial, and femicide model that rules the extreme Honduran and international right, social and popular movement in Honduras pledged to continue the process of internal articulation and the strengthening of "our proposals to strengthen the internationalist action, where Berta and her practice is inspiring and horizon."
"All this comes to strengthen us. We can, and when we shared with Berta in some events, she always said: I will die until the end. That strengthens us if we will fight until the last moment," said Dilcia Vasquez, from Women Network Against Violence in Santa Ana, Francisco Morazan.
At the meeting, ideas, proposals and collective links between organizations, countries and political initiatives they were made to transform the consequences of extractive and neoliberal models.
Claudia Ramos, from Other Worlds Mexico, said that "organized and united we can cope with everyhing it´s happening in our territories and realize that there is another life model different from the model they we want to sell to us".
At the end of the artistic and solidarity expressions to the Lenca people for their struggle against the installation of the hydroelectric project of dispossession and death, "Agua Zarca", driven by Energy Development Company S.A. (DESA), were invited with energy and ethical unity that "we become stronger to fight, we will never give up hope and to live in advance the justice utopia, freedom and autonomy that is our legitimate life project and happiness on this land".
"It has no price the sharing with all our Lenca, Garifuna and Pech brothers, the struggle must be of all brothers and sisters," said Zulema Cruz, defender of women's rights.
DECLARATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF PEOPLES "BERTA CÁCERES VIVE"
In this land that struggles for more than 500 years ago, with the rumor of free rivers, the strength of the mountains, neighborhoods and communities; with fury and tenderness of the nature beings; the spirit of ancestors, hope and pain of men, children and women; each and every people of Berta, we convened here for her memory and her rebellious life.
Since this International Meeting of Peoples "Berta Caceres Lives" held in Tegucigalpa and Rio Blanco, Honduras, from 13 to 15 April 2016, in which engaged about one thousand five hundred people belonging to social and Honduran popular organizations and delegations from 22 participating countries of the world who have discussed, shared and reflected.
WE DECLARE that we are aware that the murder of Berta Caceres was for her struggle and the struggle of COPINH, linked to the criminal extractive, neocolonial, and femicide model that rules the extreme Honduran and international right, that moves on the continent through violent actions like these murders, as well as other strategies against justice for the people that is the attempt to impose a coup d'état against the Brazilian people, from here we condemn, and which precedes the fatal 2009 coup d'état in Honduras.
We recognize the immense ethical contribution and practice of our partner Berta and her commitment to the struggling peoples of the world. Her proposal made in life was hold on the radicality and honesty of her words; the decolonizing depth of her thought, the spiritual strength of indigenous peoples; a deep knowledge and great confidence in the struggling people; and the international horizon of her emancipatory glance. Elements that are part of her legacy that today we make our with joy and strength.
We are committed to the struggle, thought, endeavour and rebelliousness of this anti-patriarchal, anti-capitalist and anti-racist proposal to continue feeding the various proposals in the world, that confronts the neoliberal logic of death, and are already being built in different parts of the continent .
At this meeting we have tried to agree ideas, proposals and collective links between organizations, countries and political initiatives which whom to implement intentions and transforming wills from the root.
As it has established the PMSH, the Popular Honduran Articulation Berta Cáceres, COPINH and Berta Caceres Flores family from this meeting.
We pledge to fight for:


Truth and Justice before the of crime Berta Caceres Flores, which means the boosting research by a team that takes into account the context in which it towards her political practice and identifies all material and intellectual authors of the murder and others who are part of your project of death
The withdrawal of DESA from the Lenca territory, the release of the River Gualcarque by the convergence of collective synergies, communication mechanisms, territorial actions, formation of a team with support from the international experience that manages the annulment of extractive projects in the Honduran territory
The final withdrawal of the military presence of indigenous, popular, rural and urban territories.



A Berta la hicieron silenciar, pero está encarnada en cada una de nosotras”
Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Frente a un altar ceremonial que convoca al espíritu de Berta Cáceres, los movimientos sociales y populares de Latinoamérica y el mundo concluyeron el segundo día del Encuentro Internacional de los Pueblos “Berta Cáceres Vive”.
Luego de las largas jornadas de discusión, en las que se concretaron acciones a nivel internacional contra los modelos de despojo territorial, representantes de más de 150 organizaciones nacionales e internacionales se tomaron tiempo para expresar su reconocimiento al trabajo de defensa que caracterizó a Berta Cáceres.
Las mujeres estamos en alto riesgo, no solo por la violencia machista y patriarcal, sino también por la violencia política. A Berta la hicieron silenciar, pero está encarnada en cada una de nosotras”, recordó Auxiliadora Romero, del Movimiento Comunal de Matagalpa, Nicaragua.
Conscientes que el asesinato de Berta Cáceres fue por su lucha y la lucha del COPINH, vinculado al criminal modelo extractivista, neocolonial, y femicida que dirige la extrema derecha hondureña e internacional, el movimiento social y popular de Honduras se comprometió a continuar el proceso de articulación interna y el fortalecimiento de “nuestras propuestas para robustecer la acción internacionalista, donde Berta y su práctica es inspiración y horizonte”.
Todo esto viene a fortalecernos, sí podemos, y cuando compartíamos con Berta en algunos eventos ella siempre decía moriré hasta el final, eso nos fortalece a decir nosotras si vamos a luchar hasta el último momento”, expresó Dilcia Vásquez, de la Red de Mujeres Contra la Violencia en Santa Ana, Francisco Morazán.
En el encuentro se consensuaron ideas, propuestas y articulaciones colectivas entre organizaciones, países e iniciativas políticas para transformar las consecuencias de los modelos extractivistas y neoliberales.
Claudia Ramos, Otros Mundos México, dijo que “organizadas y unidas podemos hacerle frente a todo esto que nos está pasando en nuestros territorios y darnos cuenta que existe otro modelo de vida distinto a este modelo que nos quieren vender”.
Al finalizar las expresiones de solidaridad y artísticas hacia el pueblo lenca por su lucha contra la instalación del proyecto hidroeléctrico, de despojo y muerte, “Agua Zarca”, impulsado por la Empresa de Desarrollos Energéticos S.A. (DESA), se invitó a que con energía y unidad ética “arreciemos la lucha, no renunciemos nunca a la esperanza y a vivir por adelantado la utopía de justicia, libertad y autonomía que es nuestro legítimo proyecto de vida y felicidad en esta tierra”.
No tiene precio el hecho de compartir con todos nuestros hermanos lencas, garífunas y pech, la lucha debe de ser de todos los hermanos y hermanas”, expresó Zulema Cruz, defensora de los derechos de las mujeres.

DECLARACION ENCUENTRO INTERNACIONAL DE LOS PUEBLOS “BERTA CÁCERES VIVE”

En esta tierra que lucha desde hace mas de 500 años, con el rumor de los ríos libres, la fuerza de las montañas, de los barrios y comunidades; con la furia y ternura de los seres de la naturaleza; el espíritu de ancestras y ancestros, la esperanza y dolor de hombres, infancia y mujeres; todas y todos gentes de Berta, nos convocamos aquí por su memoria y su rebelde vida.

Desde este Encuentro Internacional de los Pueblos “Berta Cáceres Vive” celebrado en Tegucigalpa y Rio Blanco, Honduras, del 13 al 15 de abril de 2016, en el que participaron cerca de mil quinientas personas pertenecientes a organizaciones sociales y populares hondureñas y a delegaciones de 22 países del mundo quienes hemos discutido, compartido y reflexionado.

DECLARAMOS que estamos conscientes de que el asesinato de Berta Cáceres fue por su lucha y la lucha del COPINH, vinculado al criminal modelo extractivista, neocolonial, y femicida que dirige la extrema derecha hondureña e internacional que avanza en el continente mediante acciones violentas como estos asesinatos, así como otras estrategias en contra de la justicia para los pueblos tal es el intento de imponer un golpe de estado contra el pueblo brasileño, que desde aquí condenamos, y al cual le antecede el nefasto golpe de 2009 en Honduras.

RECONOCEMOS el inmenso aporte ético y de práctica de nuestra compañera Berta y su compromiso con los pueblos en lucha del mundo. Su propuesta hecha vida se sostenía sobre la radicalidad y honestidad de sus palabras; la profundidad de su pensamiento descolonizador, la fuerza espiritual de los pueblos indígenas; un profundo conocimiento y gran confianza en la gente que lucha; y el horizonte internacional de su mirada emancipatoria. Elementos que hacen parte de su legado que hoy hacemos nuestro con alegría y fuerza.

NOS COMPROMETEMOS Con la lucha, pensamiento, quehacer y rebeldía de esta propuesta antipatriarcal, anticapitalista y antirracista para que sigan alimentando las diversas propuestas del mundo que enfrentan a la lógica neoliberal de la muerte, y que ya se están construyendo en distintas partes de este continente.

En este encuentro hemos intentado consensuar ideas, propuestas y articulaciones colectivas entre organizaciones, países e iniciativas políticas con las cuales poner en marcha intenciones y voluntades transformadoras desde la raíz.

Al igual que lo ha planteado la PMSH, la Articulacion Popular Hondureña Berta Caceres, el COPINH y la familia de Berta Cáceres Flores, desde este encuentro.

Nos comprometemos a luchar por:
  • Verdad y Justicia ante el crimen de Berta Cáceres Flores que significa el impulso de una investigación a cargo de un equipo que tome en cuenta el contexto en que ella hacia su práctica política y que identifique la totalidad de autores materiales e intelectuales de su asesinato y de otros que son parte de su proyecto de muerte
  • El retiro de DESA del territorio lenca, la liberación del Río Gualcarque, luchar por la convergencia de sinergias colectivas, mecanismos de comunicación, acciones territoriales, conformación de un equipo de trabajo con respaldo de la experiencia internacional que logre la anulación de los proyectos extractivistas en territorios hondureños
  • El retiro definitivo de la presencia militar de los territorios indígenas, populares, rurales y urbanos.
